Manchester Airport Terminal 3

Manchester Airport Terminal 3

Terminal 3 Information

Manchester Airport Terminal 3 is principally used by air carriers who offer domestic routes. It was launched in 1989 by Diana, Princess of Wales as 'Terminal 1 Domestic' prior to re-designating as Terminal 3 May 1998 and it is a base for Flybe and Ryanair. Various other airlines that take flight out of Terminal 3 consist of Air France, British Airways, BMI Regional, Brussels Airlines and KLM. The teminal covers the vast majority of domestic routes from Manchester as well as some regular European flights and a few worldwide flights.

Terminal 3 was known in succession as "Terminal 1 - British Airways", "Terminal 1A" and "Terminal 3 - British Airways and Domestic". In June 1998, British Airways launched their new £75 million terminal building created by Grimshaw Architects, a major expansion to Terminal 3, and were the main user of the terminal along with their affiliate airlines. Nevertheless, more recently they have scaled down business from Manchester Airport with the sale of their BA Connect subsidiary to Flybe; the finishing of their business agreement with GB Airways and the retraction of their daily New York-JFK service in October 2008, after 54 years of operation. This leaves a BA operation serving only London Heathrow and Gatwick from Manchester although the Gatwick service will cease when the Summer Schedule commences on 31 March 2013. Since taking over BA Connect's select routes, Flybe has gone on to add several more destinations.
